i love this collection so much i think it is the mix of incredible colours especially for an autumn winter collection they are quite spring like but it works well with the thick fabrics and distorted and dyed farbic.

First Day Back
Today was the first day back after reading week and i was a bit worried about not having done enough work as i was a bit confused between research sheets and ideas sheets which was ridiculous as it is so simple but i was just being slow. I am pleased with what i have achieved as i really like the work i am doing and feel inspired especially playing with fabrics and distorting them.

Alexa Chung
I absolutely love Alexa's style so i absolutely loved the fact she did a photo of the day of her style (for vogue.com) for the whole of February and i am absolutely loving looking at it everyday. I love her throw on style and the way it looks easy to be that cool.

London
This week i went to London to see a friend and decided to go to the British Museum and the Natural History Museum as i thought it might help my new project as i could take things i saw at temple newsam and take it a bit further as i really liked the birds and animals pictured in the gold frames and gold furniture and i manged to take some photos of birds which may help me consider colour and textures.

Holly Fulton
This collection is by Holly Fulton and this is an interview i found about her that i found very interesting.
Designer name: Holly Fulton
Origin: Edinburgh
Career highlight: “Alber Elbaz telling me I was wearing the biggest necklace he'd ever seen.”
Design background: Holly studied at Edinburgh College of Art and The Royal College of Art .
What are your design signatures? “Heavy embellishment, plastic and big jewels.”
How would you describe the Holly Fulton woman? “Anyone who likes what I do and good etiquette.”
Name three things that are inspiring you for autumn/winter 2010:“Louis Barillet, pythons and telephones.”
What encapsulates London fashion for you? “Macculloch & Wallis - the home of the lightweight concealed zip - is a bit of a benchmark for me. But the sheer loveliness of Liberty reminds me of expeditions as a teenager to look at 'proper' designer clothes. I remember how my excitement mounted on seeing the black and white façade; I think that might have influenced my love of monochrome.”
We are about to enter a new decade. What do you hope this will mean for your brand? “I hope it signals that my brand has some longevity. We've made it this far so hopefully we can keep going.”
How does London influence your designs? “It makes my designs happier and more intense as that’s how I feel in London. The hedonistic mix of people, Ladurée and Claridge’s bar all make me euphoric and I think that shows!”

Manchester
Today i went to Manchester to go to the Whitworth gallery as they had an exhibition about wallpaper which i was really interested in but didn't think it would be as good as it was. There were many artists that had done special wallpapers for this event and they were some of my favourites especially by De Angelis and Garner, and Catherine Bertola who uses flowers and leaves and has them coming off the wallpaper.
I also really enjoyed wandering round manchester as it just seems so vast compared to Leeds and it is so different especially having China Town and the gay village it reminds me more of London than Leeds does.

Creative Design Realisation Assesment
I had my assesment which i felt went really well and my tutor seemed really pleased with me. my only issue was my file should have been more clear especially with dart manipulation as it wasn't clear i had added seam allowance and it needed to be more accurate. Other than that he was happy with my dress and so am i!

Dyeing Induction
i had my dyeing induction today and i found it interesting that it was quite easy. it made me excited and i can't wait to play around with different materials and colour. i am especially interested in dip dyeing at the moment so will definitely be having a go at that. we also got shown round he print room which was good as i have another induction for printed textiles so it was interesting to see all the things you can do.
TONIGHT i am dressing up as lady gaga and cant wait!

RED
New Brief
Today we got a brief which is all about trends so our first task is to find 4 trends i chose: Laid Back LA, Apocalpyto, Boudoir and Pattern Play. My favourite was apocalypto as i love the mix of tribal and futuristic and all the textures and experiments played on the fabrics.
We then had to do a shop report on all the market levels (there are seven these included luxury, designer, designer diffusion, upper middle mass market, middle mass market, lower middle mass market and budget) and find our trends in the shop and see how it differs between the market levels.
